Care Instructions

Bedheads

Our bedheads feature a pre-washed reversible slipcover which can be removed for washing. We recommend hand washing in a large tub or bath to allow the fabric plenty of space to float – this will avoid any hard creases forming in the fabric or print. To dry, gently roll the cover up to squeeze out any water, then repeat this process with a towel laid on top to soak up extra water. Dry flat in a shaded location, and then put the slipcover back over the bedhead frame whilst still slightly damp to create a snug fit. If any creases form they can be ironed out once the cover is already on the frame.
If spot cleaning is required, avoid vigorously rubbing the fabric as this can fade the print.

Bucket kit

Do not pre-wash your fabrics as they will affect the finished size of your bucket. Due to the leather handles our bucket kits cannot be washed in the machine, however any stains can be gently spot cleaned – avoid vigorously rubbing the fabric as this can fade the print.

Curtains

Our curtains are dry-clean only to avoid shrinkage. Use a vacuum or shake the curtain out to remove any build up of dust. Curtains can be very carefully spot cleaned – avoid vigorously rubbing the fabric as this can fade the print. Also be aware that watermarks can form if the fabric is made too damp.

Cushions

Your Ink & Spindle cushion cover has not been pre-washed, so you can expect a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash. Please wash by hand, allowing the fabric plenty of space to move so as to avoid any hard creases forming in the wash (this can damage the print on high-ink coverage designs). Dry flat in the shade, do not tumble dry. To reduce shrinkage you can put the cover back on the insert whilst still slightly damp. A cold, gentle machine wash is also suitable for most fabrics except for our mid-and heavy-weight washed linens (Indigo, Granite, Spice, Honey, Spinifex & Pacific).

Cushion kit

The fabrics in your Ink & Spindle cushion kit have not been pre-washed. Instead we recommend sewing without pre-washing and then following the care instructions above for our ready-made cushion covers. If you do choose to pre-wash you can expect a small amount of shrinkage and so your cover will be slightly smaller than 45 x 45cm.

Door Stops

Your Ink & Spindle door stop has not been pre-washed, so you can expect a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash. First remove all the filling by opening the safety zip in the base (thread a paper clip or safety pin through the zip head to pull open). Please wash by hand, allowing the fabric plenty of space to move so as to avoid any hard creases forming in the wash (this can damage the print on high-ink coverage designs). Dry flat in the shade, do not tumble dry. To reduce shrinkage and remove creases you can iron the fabric whilst still slightly damp.

Eye Pillows,  Heat Packs & Draught Snakes

These items all contain wheat so are spot clean only with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid vigorously rubbing the fabric as this can fade the print.

Fabric Meterage

Ink & Spindle textiles have not been pre-washed, so you can expect a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash. Please wash by hand*, allowing the fabric plenty of space to move so as to avoid any hard creases forming in the wash (this can damage the print on high-ink coverage designs). Dry flat in the shade, do not tumble dry. To reduce shrinkage and remove creases you can iron the fabric whilst still slightly damp. Dry clean is also acceptable.

*A cold, gentle machine wash is also suitable for most fabrics except for our mid-and heavy-weight washed linens (Indigo, Granite, Spice, Honey, Spinifex & Pacific).

Lampshades

Our lampshades can be kept clean by vacuuming carefully and then wiping down with a slightly damp cloth if required.

Roman Blinds & Roller Blinds

Our blinds can be kept clean by vacuuming carefully and then wiping down with a slightly damp cloth if required.

Table linens

Your Ink & Spindle table linens have not been pre-washed, so you can expect a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash. Please wash by hand *, allowing the fabric plenty of space to move so as to avoid any hard creases forming in the wash (this can damage the print on high-ink coverage designs). Dry flat in the shade, do not tumble dry. To reduce shrinkage and remove creases you can iron the fabric whilst still slightly damp.  A cold, gentle machine wash is also suitable but please take care with any metallic inks if machine washing. Coloured linens will fade faster over time with repeated machine washing.
